Allowing Users to Filter Events by Date (Past, Future, Last 7 Days, etc.) with the Filter Post Module

In the archive loop I can configure it to show only items from the past, or the future, the last 7 days, or whatever. I would like my website visitors to be able to do the same thing with the filter module. For example, I have a CPT 'Events', and I want visitors to be able to filter only future events.
