Allow multiple selects in Select Drop Down

In the filter posts module of Divi Machine it is possible to use select filters. Parameters to select appear as a dropdown menu. But is it not possible to make multiple selections in the drop down menu. You have to use checkboxes instead. I think it is a good idea to allow multiple selections in drop down menus also as an option (like in the attached image), because so you can safe space in the layout.
